Verline Iris Culinary Academy accept kids from all eco-social backgrounds, all are welcome. We target urban kids that love to cook, we teach them the basics how to use kitchen equipment, food safety, sanitation, and most of all how to cook healthy and nutritious foods for themselves, friends, and family. Most 8 to 14-year old love to cook with either Granma, Nana, Auntie, Mimi, Mom, or Dad but they all love to cook. We want to build on this group’s, love of cooking, nurture their passion so that by 15 -18 age old they advance to the next level of developing a career in the culinary and hospitality industries. The Academy has two basic components, the opportunity to develop necessary skills to become a chef, and a second component that teach the fundamentals of the kitchen.

CHEF LEE'S SCHEDULE
This curriculum provides a calendar year culinary program for kids between the ages 8
to 18. Of course this curriculum does not limit the Chef’s ability to make changes are
any other modification she feels necessary. The number of hours per week is 11, the
total day per year we estimate to be 182 based on the normal school year.
WE HAVE SUMMER COURSES TOO
The Academy fun after school program and summer camp grogram for kids that love to cook. They will go on tours, field trips, visits to farmers markets and other outside activities, so that the 7, 8, 9…12 year olds that love to cook can learn the basics of kitchen safety and sanitary food preparation.
